Building a wedge

Already, there are splits in Iggy’s Liberal caucus.  Two Newfoundland and Labrador Members of Parliament are threatening to oppose the federal budget unless there are amendments.  This is a result of constituent action.

If women are a constituency, then it makes sense that Canadian women contact the Liberal critic responsible for the status of women, Anita Neville, because the budget fails women in a huge way:

– continues the attack on pay equity in the civil service

– provides no support to the working poor or those living in poverty

– does nothing to provide desperately-needed childcare supports

– provides stimulus to male-dominated areas of the economy, further ghettoizing the “pink ghetto

Mention any and all of these (& more) in your communications with the Liberal MP, Hon. Anita Neville (Winnipeg South Centre):

We need a study/poll of how many people vote for their MP first and then the Party. We need MPs who vote with their conscience and know what their constituients need and what they generally support or don’t support.
In this last election, the Libs drew to their ranks many NDP and Green candidates and voters.
Towing the Party line can be very irresponsible .

  4. Thanks regina mom. Have sent my letter and cc: my MP, Layton, Duceppe, and the Count.

I spoke with a 3 MP’s last week on bill C10 – 2 conservatives (Sheer and Broughan) and our lone liberal Ralph…. our conservative friends were the usuall blah blah… Ralph – well that was interesting – he says the liberal party will not stop the bill as it would trigger an election and we need to pass it to get the stimulus package out….. After some pressing he agreed that the Liberal party would be willing in the next 6 months to a year, to look at tabling some private member bills on removing some of the more offensive pieces that didn’t belong there in the first place – such as the Pay Equity piece… It sounded just like they were getting ready to head into an election… jeez – what am I thinking… of course they are….at least he wasn’t spouting coalition rhetoric again….

  7. In the Build the Wedge task, the Buyer picks up the Assortment process from the Senior Buyer who has gone to market. In building the wedge, the Buyer makes two sets of decisions (under the Senior Buyer’s guidance):

Assortment Strategy – The Senior Buyer has set the assortment strategy at the Total Subclass/Class Level or by Cluster Parent (Brick & Mortar versus Direct, and so on). The following key decisions are made by the Buyer:

Number of variants per style (colors, fragrances or flavors). This can be calculated by using sales plans (sales per item goals), fixture/page capacity, or manually entered by the Buyer.

Product attribute, color and/or customer segment level goals for the Assortment (the number or percent of total for a brand, a silhouette, a color family, and so on).

The Senior Buyer’s Cluster Parent strategy will spread down to the Cluster level automatically, so the Buyer only needs to tailor those Clusters that vary from the Cluster Parent’s Strategy.

Style-Color Level Assortment – Now the Buyer can use AP’s Wedge Population Automation to select the appropriate style-colors from the Shopping List to meet each Cluster’s Assortment Strategy (also referred to as Building the Wedge). This automation is iterative and works in near real-time to enable to Buyer to tailor each wedge in a short period of time.

In the next step, Buy Planning, the Senior Buyer or Buyer plans Sales, Margin or Markdowns, Inventory and Receipts for their assortment based on the Assortment Strategy and Wedge Population.
